Dr. A Mohanakrishnan

Dr. A Mohanakrishnan is a well-known Gastroenterologist from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has vast experience in GI Liver, Interventional Endoscopy and ERCP.

He completed his MBBS from Coimbatore Medical College in 1990. He further pursued MD in Internal Medicine in 1996 and DM in Gastroenterology in 2001 from Kilpauk Medical College, which is affiliated to the prestigious Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Dr. Mohanakrishnan completed Compulsory Rotatory Resident Intern (CRRI) at Coimbatore Medical College in 1991 (duration of 1 year). He also served as Special Trainee in Medicine at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital in Coimbatore for approximately 1 year in 1992.

Previously, he has worked with some of the leading hospitals in Coimbatore. He worked as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & RI in Chennai from 1996 to 1999 where he was responsible for staffing the inpatient wards and attending hospitalized patients with chronic illnesses. He was also involved in teaching and managing of medical students, interns and residents. He had additional responsibilities of assisting in the intensive care unit.

He served as Visiting Consultant Gastroenterologist for 5 years (2001-2006) at Sri Kumaran Hospital-Revathy Medical Centre Tiruppur, TamilNadu where he was engaged in attending 35-40 outpatients on daily basis, hospitalising patients, performing Diagnostic Endoscopy, Colonoscopy and Therapeutic procedures like Bleeding Hemostasis, Stricture dilatation, Stenting, Polypectomy, PEG tube placement & Foreign body removal. Post his stint with Sri Kumaran Hospital, he joined VGM Hospital, Institute of Gastroenterology Coimbatore, as Consultant Gastroenterologist and worked there for 2 years (2006-2008).

Dr. A Mohanakrishnan served PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Coimbatore as an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology for duration of 5 years (2008-2013). He was involved in staffing inpatient wards and attending hospitalised patients, teaching and training medical students, interns, residents and postgraduates both MD & DM. He also performed diagnostic & all therapeutic endoscopic procedures including ERCP.

He is currently attached with MPS Gastro Care & Endoscopy Centre Tirupur as Consultant Gastroenterologist. He performs advanced Diagnostic & all therapeutic endoscopic procedures and attends 35-40 outpatients in a day.
